Disadvantages:
Ø A lack of economic incentives for merchants and the high cost
of implementation is keeping the SET protocol from gaining
 acceptance
ØMost companies will need to add new validation, protocol-
management and encryption / decryption  software. Due to this
initial costs are high.
ØThere’s really no good estimate of what it will cost, but it may cost
at least $3 per card holder.
ØThe inclusion of Certificate Authorities, Acquirers and electronic
wallets create a much more complex transaction environment.
This has both cost and latency implications.
